London Trip, February 18-24, 2004

On February 16, 2004, Patrick and I headed down to Logan airport in Boston to take the ever lovely "overnight" flight to London. The movie that night was Love Actually, which both of us had wanted to see, which meant we got absolutely no sleep that "night". But hey, it was our vacation, right?

You'll notice a conspicuous gap in pictures for the whole of February 17. Well, after arriving at London at about 7:00 their time, which was some time in the neighborhood of o'dark thirty range according to our time zone, all we really managed to do that day was follow our friend Karen around London, in the area of her home (King's Cross). It was actually a really interesting walk, what I remember of it at least, and I will say, it made the tiny bed in our hotel room quite sufficient for our first night in London.

Highlights of February 18:
We started the day by walking from our hotel in Earl's Court to meet Karen at the tube stop near Hyde Park (pictures 1-19). The three of us then followed along Green Park, to Buckingham Palace, to St. James Park, and through towards Westminster (pictures 20-49). Once on the Thames in Westminster, we got to see the Houses of Parliament, and went inside Westminster Abbey (this is a definite must see if you're in London) (pictures 50-66. We actually managed to get one picture inside, which is a no-no, but there was a stone mason working in the courtyard, so Patrick snapped a picture). Once we were done in Westminster Abbey, we headed across the river to the South Bank, where we walked along the shore and came back over the river at the Millenium Footbridge. At this point, it was getting dark, so we stopped at a pub, and after a pint (for Patrick), headed back to Karen's flat for the night (pictures 67-82).
