Our next stop was a bed and breakfast on Clonakilty. The owner had tea waiting for us when we got there, and the breakfasts were absolutely wonderful. I am not sorry we spent a little extra money to stay there.

The first day, we headed down to Baltimore with the intention of going out to Cape Clear Island. We missed the ferry, so we ended up going out to Sherkin Island, which had a better ferry schedule. The ferry was a tiny boat, and anyone who sat on the edge (Leah and I) got wet on the way over.

There's a Franciscan Abbey off the road just above the pier, though you unfortunately can't go inside. There's a beach tractor you can take to get to the beaches, all of which seem to be on the far side of the island. We, however, decided to walk. It was very windy, and we were caught in a couple rain showers, but it was generally pleasent. There were people in the water at the beach we ended up at, which seemed a little crazy to me. I went shell hunting and found a lot of limpets.

Baltimore was a very nice little town. It reminded me a lot of the fishing villages here in Maine. It had some really nice sea cliffs that you could see from the ferry.

The next day, we left Clonakilty for Killarney. We stopped at the Drombeg Stone Circle on the way.
