The mill at Tchessa grinds corn and wheat
Tchessa
Donors: WARK, Presbyterian Church (USA), Presbyterian Church of Canada, American Embassy
Cost: $62,000

Tchessa is located 10 kilometers from the Mozambican border with Malawi. After the war ended, a flood of refugees who had been living in Malawi returned to Mozambique, and many of them ended up resettling in Tchessa. Suddenly, the small community had a much larger population than it was capable of dealing with.

The church building at Tchessa
In response to this need, the Presbyterian Church of Mozambique, working with the Presbyterian Church (USA) has responded with ambitious construction projects to serve the population. The church at Tchessa is served by a pastor, and has a congregation of roughly 200. The primary school, built by the Presbyterian Church of Mozambique, has already begun teaching the children of Tchessa. The teachers and a principal live in the housing constructed for them. The mill built in the community, with support from the Presbyterian Church of Canada, is busy grinding corn and wheat.
The church is also planning other projects in Tchessa, and work continues.
